With loving memory on the day of your passing
2-10-1954 to 6-27-2010
- Bodhi Yoga honors the life and spirit of Rex Croft Kocherhans, who has served as an advisor to the Bodhi Yoga Center since 1998. Rex was an invaluable advisor to the Bodhi Yoga Center and supportive resource for many students who benefited from his therapeutic guidance.
Rex was also an integral part of the development of the CottonTree Square Bodhi Yoga facility. He worked with Syl, throughout the construction, and when finished, offered the dedicatory prayer for the Bodhi Yoga Center to be a place of sanctuary, healing and enlightenment.
Rex and Syl shared an office space in the upstairs annex of CottonTree Family Medical practice, where Rex offered healing for the mind (through cognitive therapy), and Syl offered healing for the body (through thai partner yoga therapy).
The picture was taken of Syl and Rex at the Chakra Therapy workshop in 2006.
- Throughout his mortal ministry, Rex shared the spirit of love, support and strength with hundreds of clients in his professional capacity as a family therapist at CottonTree Family Medical (adjacent to Bodhi Yoga).
In addition, he worked closely with Syl Carson, in the development and writing of Bodhi Yoga manuals, as well as giving professional instruction to yoga teacher trainees participating in Bodhi Yoga’s certification programs.
“The complimentary balance of working in tandem with Rex has been one of the most profound experiences of my life. My love, respect and adoration of this beautiful man is part of the essence of who I am, and the energy of gratitude for him lives eternally in my heart. I still feel you with me, dear Rex. I won’t be going to work alone tomorrow, I carry your loving kindness in every cell of my body daily.” – Syl
- With gratitude we share some of the hundreds of prayers that have come into Bodhi Yoga on Rex’s behalf:
“We will be sending Rex and his loved ones distance reiki from Hawaii. Rex will be in my prayers as well” – Michel (Hawaii)
“I will ask those here in Alabama to join at that time also. Also a group in Alaska. We will ask that Rex’s blood and system, will be pure as Christ was after his fast” – Tamara (Alabama)
“I am joining you in prayer. Thank you for asking and giving me the opportunity to join in”. – Twila (Iowa)
“Oh I will keep him in my prayers. I have fond memories of him in our training.” – Ramona (Provo, Utah)
“It is always an honor to include anyone in our prayers, so count it done. P.S. Will put his name on the Seattle Tempel prayer roll!” – Mary Anne (Washington)
“Syl, thank you for letting me know. Rex and his family will be in my thought and prayers. Namaste.” – Sandra (Lindon, Utah)
“Beautiful prayer for my friend …God bless” – Zdenka (Saudi Arabia)
“I remember how we practice on him during the Thai Training. I will pray for him. He was singing when I was leaving, that Sunday in SLC, ‘God Be With You ‘Til We Meet Again’. I keep that in my mind in remembering him.” Simona (Slovenia)
