Syl guides you with step-by-step breath instruction, lovely visuals-sound for a 35min meditation that can be done seated, or lying down.

Lighted Winter Solstice Walking Meditation at Syl's Labyrinth

If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown!

What happens when you walk a labyrinth?

Walking a labyrinth is a walking meditation that quiets the mind, reduces stress, and encourages self-reflection. A labyrinth is a path that is a metaphor for life. It is a sacred space set aside to set all the stories you’ve been telling yourself down and open up.

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has one path, so you can’t get lost, providing a focused, calming experience for spiritual connection, creativity, clear-seeing direction, and inner peace.

 

The labyrinth path itself acts as a symbolic journey with three stages:

Releasing, Connecting, and Clarity.

Stage one: Releasing
 
The minute you step onto the path, everything becomes significant. Your journey into the center naturally helps you observe and let go of the need to know everything in advance, and shed the worries, old, repetitive thought patterns, and outcome-based expectations you were probably not aware you were holding.
 
Stage Two: Connecting
 
Once you reach the center of the labyrinth, you don’t need to make anything happen. It is simply a sacred space to just be open and receptive to whatever comes into your heart. This is the point at which most people feel supported, centered, and connected.
 
Because the labyrinth walk connects the right and left hemispheres of the brain, it’s easier to hear messages and feel a sense of illumination when you are in the center of such a beautiful path.
 
In the center of this labyrinth, if you clap your hands, you can feel the vortex of energy around you as the sound of your clap echoes right back into your ears.  This phenomenon is unique to this sacred labyrinth.  This is a powerful metaphor for the energy that is active when you stand at the center of this sacred space.
 
Step three: Clarity
 
As you begin to wind your way back out through the labyrinth, you naturally integrate more connected awareness into life. As you follow the same path back, your awareness is profoundly different, as you integrate the experience and carry a renewed sense of peace and clarity into your life. 
 
The key takeaways for walking a labyrinth:
 
This ancient configuration of a path that resolves the straight-and-narrow vs. one-eternal-round nature of God/Source/Universal awareness paradox is felt through both physical and energy bodies as you walk the sacred path. The path itself is benevolent, nonjudgmental, and guided, leading to inner calm and full chakra alignment, integrated mind-body-spirit awareness, and a dedicated space for prayer, meditation, or simple mindfulness.

 The winter solstice is the year’s longest night and the celebration of the return of light. It’s one of the most potent times to walk a labyrinth. These evenings are a treasured Bodhi Yoga tradition that we look forward to every year in this beautiful space.
